Library Galleria Wedding | Nina + Adrian

If you want a cool “downtown” vibe for your wedding, you can’t go wrong with Tsakopoulos Library Galleria, in the heart of downtown Sacramento. Nina & Adrian chose this venue for their September 2017 wedding because of its convenient location and proximity to downtown hotels.

If you’re having a Library Galleria wedding, you might want to choose an off-site location for getting ready. The Galleria has a changing room off the main entrance, but the lighting is not ideal for hair and makeup. Nina and Adrian stayed at the nearby Citizen Hotel, which was not only the perfect getting ready space, but also provided a locale for their amazing rooftop portraits.

Nina and Adrian chose to have a first-look photo session (something I highly recommend to all my clients). They began in the lobby of the hotel, and then moved outside to the Capitol Rose Garden. Some of my favorite shots from their portrait session came from the rose garden!

Their wedding color scheme was teal and gold, which was on display throughout their wedding details. Programs were in teal covers with gold ribbons; the linens were deep teal; even the cupcakes were frosted in teal and had gold paper rings around them!

Nina brought her love of roses to the decor as well. We scattered loose rose petals on the guest book table as well as the dessert and cake tables. We assembled her table centerpieces on-site (and by “we” I mean myself, my assistant, and a team of aunties who showed up to help with the very hands-on assembly).

Nina had sourced a large number of shallow glass bowls, which we filled with water. Then we placed several floating candles in each bowl and finished with a smattering of loose rose petals. The effect was enchanting, especially after dark when we brought down the house lights. (Less enchanting was the messy clean-up at the end of the night, but that’s why you hire a wedding planner, lol).

One of my favorite parts of the night was when Adrian and his med school bandmates reunited for a few songs during the reception. Adrian was on drums, his officiant was their lead singer and guitarist, and his two groomsmen were on bass and guitar. The younger guests were entranced and sat on the dance floor watching them the whole time.

Nina and Adrian also incorporated a traditional money dance into their reception dancing. We provided pins for the guests, but many of them had some difficulty pinning the money onto the couple, so they ended up with fistfuls of cash at the end of the dance. Which then led to this fantastic photo of them tossing the money into the air.

The Library Galleria is a stunning wedding location. We held the ceremony right in the ballroom space, then flipped the room during cocktail hour, which was held on the balcony level overlooking the ballroom space. My favorite feature of the Library Galleria is its enormous floor to ceiling window, pictured in some of the above photos. If you’re considering Tsakopoulos Library Galleria for your wedding, I’d love to talk to you!
